In Very Good condition with a Very Good dust jacket. Blue cloth boards, gold lettering on spine; mild shelf wear. Binding tight; pages clean and unmarked. Pictorial dust jacket shows an SBD dive bomber over a burning aircraft carrier; light bumping to edges and mild shelf wear. Now in an archival quality (removable) Brodart cover. Memoir of CDR Clayton E. Fisher, USN (Ret.), a Navy carrier pilot whose flying began in childhood with barnstorming biplanes and carried him into the Battle of Midway as an SBD dive bomber pilot. He flew in the initial strike against Japanese carriers at the Battle of Santa Cruz, where his ship USS Hornet was sunk, and later flew 80 combat missions over North Korea in the Corsair off USS Essex during 1951 and 1952. Illustrated with US Navy photographs.
