Condition & notes

In acceptable condition. Black leatherette binding with blind-stamped lettering on front and gold lettering on spine. Moderate overall scuffing, aging and soiling to covers. Binding tight. Circular "Department of Education" stamp on page 2. Otherwise pages are aged but unmarked with occasional spotting and soiling. An acceptable reading copy. Detailed illustrations. International Correspondence Schools (ICS) was founded in 1891 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, by Thomas J. Foster. The school pioneered distance learning, offering correspondence courses in various fields to working adults. It played a significant role in democratizing education and upskilling the workforce in the early 20th century.
