Condition & notes

In Very Good condition. Glossy pictorial covers, spoonful of sour cream on front and sour cream cupcakes on rear; light shelf and edge wear. Binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked. Two manufacturer's coupons and mail-order form at back uncut and unused; coupons expired December 31, 2014. Promotional recipe booklet from Darigold, the Pacific Northwest dairy cooperative founded in 1918, when five regional dairy cooperatives joined as the United Dairymen's Association; the Darigold name was chosen by member farmers in 1925. Rear cover gives the Seattle headquarters at 1130 Rainier Avenue South and the slogan "It's Farmalicious." Twenty sour cream recipes in four sections (Fresh Starts, Main Attractions, Side Kicks, Sweet Dreams), from wild mushroom soup and fish tacos to sour cream ice cream and Swedish cream with raspberry sauce, with full-page food photography and an opening portrait of a Jersey cow at pasture. The back pages show how the booklet was used to sell: two 40-cent coupons for Darigold sour cream, and an order form for the full "Fresh Magazine" (Volumes I-V, over 80 pages each). Facing full-page advertisement ("Upside Down Sour Cream Test Upheld") stresses farmer ownership and rBST-free milk. Contents: Fresh Starts; Main Attractions; Side Kicks; Sweet Dreams.
