Japanese special issue devoted to Duran Duran from Shinko Music's Music Life, for decades Japan's leading magazine for Western rock (it ceased publication in 1998), edited by its editor in chief Kaoruko (Rue) Togo. Issued as the band's third album, Seven and the Ragged Tiger, was about to appear; rear cover is a Toshiba-EMI advertisement announcing it as "coming soon." Begins with handwritten messages to Music Life readers from John Taylor and Roger Taylor, written at Toshiba-EMI in Tokyo on 27 September 1983 during a promotional visit made after planned November Japan concerts were cancelled; both promise a return in January, and the band played the Budokan and four other Japanese cities in January 1984. Includes a photo diary of that Tokyo visit with radio and television appearances (TV Asahi's Best Hit USA, Tokio Rock TV); Togo's account of the first Japan tour of April 1982 with its schedule and set list; color coverage of the 23 July 1983 Aston Villa Park concert; and a reference section with a band history, a digest of Music Life's own 1981-1983 interviews, member profiles with questionnaires answered by hand in English, a complete discography and a chronology. Handwritten messages and questionnaires are printed facsimiles; this copy is not signed. Licensed by Tritec Music and produced by arrangement with Marvel Comics Group.
