Five folded single-sheet brochures: Apache Lodge, Big Bear Lake (folded twice, 6 panels, 30 x 23.5 cm open, with laid-in rate card "Effective 1964"); Tree Top Lodge, Lake Arrowhead (folded twice, 6 panels, 30.5 x 23 cm open, color photographs, Fran Hunt Color Productions, Laguna Beach); Shore Acres Lodge, Big Bear Lake (single fold, 4 panels, 23 x 20.5 cm open, Press in the Pines, Big Bear); Dawson's Cabins, Big Bear Lake (single fold, 4 panels, 23 x 20.5 cm open, printed in red and green); Village Cottages, Lake Arrowhead (single fold, 4 panels, 23 x 20.5 cm open, printed in green).

Condition & notes

In Good condition. Apache Lodge brochure and rate card with pencil markings and doodles throughout; small partial red stamp on one interior panel. Dawson's Cabins with telephone number corrected in ink and two rates altered in ink. Tree Top Lodge with pencil notes on one interior panel. Shore Acres Lodge and Village Cottages unmarked. Light toning and mild edge wear overall; folds intact. Promotional brochures from five family-run lodging courts in the San Bernardino Mountains, issued over roughly two decades as the drive up from Los Angeles became an easy weekend trip. Dawson's Cabins promises "smog-free air" and "high gear roads," with cabins at $8 a night for two. Apache Lodge, run by George and Carrie Batchelor, lists 200 feet of railroad track with a hand car among its amusements. Shore Acres Lodge advertises free cable TV and a pool with diving board and slide; Village Cottages, its private heated pool and a four-digit phone number; Tree Top Lodge, "Arrowhead's Finest," color photographs of suites, honeymoon cottage and poolside sunbathers.
