Condition & notes
In Very Good condition. Pictorial paper covers with light bumping to edges and corners, mild shelf and edge wear, and some color loss. Staple bound, binding tight. Pages mildly toned. Otherwise clean and unmarked. Oblong souvenir guide sold to motorists arriving at Mesa Verde in the Mission 66 era, laid out as a driving tour: the new Morfield campground village with its laundry and service station, the Far View Motor Lodge and Navajo Hill visitor center, the two Ruins Road loops, and ranger-archaeologist tours of Cliff Palace and Balcony House, with Wetherill Mesa still marked "proposed." Hall was the Park Service's first chief naturalist and directed the Rainbow Bridge-Monument Valley Expedition before leaving in 1938 to run the park concession, the Mesa Verde Company; this edition was issued after his death in 1962. Printed in Mirro-Krome, Crocker's offset process for photochrome color.
