Condition & notes

In Very Good condition. Black pictorial paper covers (color photograph of Wupatki Ruin framed by a doorway) with black lettering; cream rear cover printed with association booklist. Staple bound, binding tight. Mild shelf and edge wear, with some color loss along edges and spine, and some toning and spotting to rear cover. Faint toning to pages, some rust to staples. Otherwise clean and unmarked. Self-guiding trail booklet for Wupatki Ruin near Flagstaff, issued by the Southwestern Monuments Association, the nonprofit cooperating association founded in 1938 at Casa Grande to publish and sell interpretive literature at the national monuments of the Southwest. Booklets were lent at the trailhead on the honor system: return it at the last stop or keep it for 15 cents. Seventeen numbered stakes cover the Sinagua pueblo, its ballcourt and amphitheater, followed by notes on the Sunset Crater eruption and the land rush it set off. Printed just after Mission 66, the federal program that gave every park a visitor center with a sales counter. Rear cover lists the association's Dodge, Janish and Olin natural-history handbooks at 60 cents to $3.25, by mail from Globe.
