Condition & notes
In Very Good condition. Illustrated front panel (horned devil in magenta, red and green on black). Mild surface wear, with a few tiny scuffs on black of front panel. Folds crisp, colors bright. Otherwise unmarked. Nudity in three photographs blocked out in listing images only; brochure itself unaltered. Visitor brochure for Ripley's Museum of Witchcraft and Magic at Fisherman's Wharf, open from the early 1970s until 1975, when pressure from local church groups led Ripley's to rename it World of the Unexplained. Ripley's had bought the occult collection of Gerald Gardner, founder of modern Wicca, from Monique Wilson and exhibited it here and at a sister museum in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Unfolded, the inside forms one poster-style spread of color photographs of the tableaux: Men of the Occult, Johannes Faustus, The Young Witch, The Spiritual Meet, The Werewolf, Head-Hunters of New Guinea, Baphomet and Beware the Evil Eye. Outer panels: the Gypsy Fortune Teller's talking head, a free magic show in the gift shop, and a drawing of the marquee.
