Condition & notes
In Good condition. Single folded sheet with mild shelf wear, creasing and small nicks at corners and edges, a small patch of color loss at right edge of front cover, toning and light soiling to rear cover with a small stain near lower edge. Previous owner's rubber-stamped ownership mark (a pianist's) in purple ink at upper right of front cover. Music clean and unmarked, with no performance annotations. Pinky Tomlin (1907-1987), who wrote and sang "The Object of My Affection," a number-one hit with Jimmie Grier's orchestra in 1934, and went on to star in MGM and independent musicals of the 1930s, supplies the words for this up-tempo love song by Gordon Bishop, marked "Lively." By the mid-1950s Tomlin had largely left show business for an oil and gas company in Beverly Hills, making this a late song credit. Published by the small Leftwich Publishing Company of South Orange Drive, Los Angeles, with the Melodic Music Company as selling agent. Rear cover prints the chorus of Bishop's "You're Twice As Nice," words by Larry Yoell. Piano and vocal with chord symbols.
