In Very Good condition. Light blue card front cover under a clear plastic protective sheet, plain chipboard rear cover; plastic sheet rippled, creased and scuffed, card beneath clean; light soiling to rear cover. Comb binding tight; leaves and covers 3-hole punched throughout, as issued for binder use. Interior bright and unmarked. Step-by-step china painting manual for fruit subjects: apples, blackberries, grapes, currants, cherries, plums, strawberries, oranges and mixed fruit, each with a palette list, instructions for every painting and firing (typically three to four firings at cone .017), a color plate of the finished piece (tile, cake plate, plaque, tankard, coffee set, cookie jar, fruit bowl, compote) and a line drawing to trace. Includes short sections on fruit categories, color composition and light. Houston self-published a series of seven comb-bound instruction books between 1973 and 1983 (Portraits, Birds, Dresden Flowers I and II, Flowers, Fruit, A Collection of Studies), and a line of overglaze colors was sold under her name; both remain in distribution through china-painting suppliers as of 2026.
