Condition & notes

In good condition. Illustrated front cover and plain red back cover show moderate shelf wear with color loss along spine fold and edges, scattered surface scratching to back panel, nicking along spine and light bumping to corners. Binding tight. Hammer prices recorded in pencil and ink beside the estimates throughout. Manuscript note at head of first page distinguishes the two hands: prices in ink require ten percent added, penciled prices already include it. No separate prices realized sheet. Pages otherwise unmarked. Auction catalogue for Butterfield & Butterfield sale 2041P, held February 15, 1989 simultaneously in San Francisco and Los Angeles, lots 2001-2295. Each lot carries artist, dates, title, medium, dimensions, provenance and estimate with a photographic reproduction. Consignors included the Muriel Flint Treat Estate of Pebble Beach, the Colin Higgins Trust of Los Angeles, the Estate of Miller Parker of Merced, and the FFCA, Morton H. Fleischer Collection of Phoenix, the California Impressionism collection published in 1986 with an essay by Jean Stern. Cover reproduces lot 2195A, William Wendt's Southern California Landscape of 1923. Lot 2023, a William Keith mountain landscape of 1877, came as a deaccession from The Oakland Museum. Also a strong Percy Gray watercolor group, Cleveland Rockwell, Giuseppe Cadenasso, Alice Chittenden and George Demont Otis.
