In very good condition. Cream illustrated paper covers show mild shelf wear with light bumping to edges and mild toning along edges. Binding tight. Hammer prices recorded in ink and pencil beside the estimates throughout, with a few corrections and bidder notations. Pages otherwise unmarked. Auction catalogue for Butterfield & Butterfield sale 4579D, held July 31, 1991 in San Francisco and Los Angeles, lots 2001-2223. Lots 2001 through 2200 give artist, dates, title, medium, dimensions, provenance and estimate with a photographic reproduction. Sale closes with two groups consigned directly from artists' estates, Christian von Schneidau at lots 2201 through 2210 and Elsie Palmer Payne at 2211 through 2223, described in full but not illustrated. Other property came from the estates of Juan Alvarez, Edith Grant Ordway, Dr. Occo Goodwin and Florence B. Coons. Cover reproduces lot 2171, a cockatoo subject by Jessie Arms Botke. Also Coulter, Charles Dormon Robinson, Joseph Raphael, George Demont Otis, Paul Lauritz and Selden Connor Gile. Hammer results are recorded in hand throughout and on the laid-in sheets.
