Condition & notes

In very good condition. Mottled cream pictorial paper covers show mild shelf wear with light bumping to edges and corners and some light soiling. Binding tight. Hammer prices and buyer numbers recorded in ink and pencil beside the estimates throughout, with occasional notes and corrections; unsold lots marked with a symbol and absent from the printed results. Pages otherwise clean and unmarked. Laid in are printed prices realized sheets for this sale and for the photographs sale of the previous day, folded and toned, one carrying a hand-drawn ink circle around a block of lots. Sale 4388P, held October 10, 1990, lots 426 to 653, giving artist, title, medium, dimensions, provenance, exhibition history, literature and estimate for each. Cover lot is August Gay's Carmel Valley, lot 489. Artists include Granville Redmond, William Wendt, Thomas Hill, Edgar Payne, Elmer Wachtel, Hanson Puthuff, William Keith, Alfred Mitchell, John Marshall Gamble, George Demont Otis, William Alexander Coulter and Rinaldo Cuneo. Highest result on the printed sheet is lot 526, Redmond's Poppies and Lupines Beside a Lake, at $77,000. Artist index at front.
