In very good condition. Glossy pictorial paper covers show light bumping to edges and mild shelf wear, with a small pale mark to red back cover. Binding tight. Light toning to gutter margin of preliminary leaves. Pages clean and unmarked. One hundred seventy-one lots of California, Western and American art, sold in Beverly Hills on 24 October 2000 for a total of $3,463,247. Laid in are two printed sheets of Christie's sale results giving the price for every lot that sold. Notable sales are Granville Redmond's California Poppies at $424,000, well over its $150,000 to $250,000 estimate; Charles Caryl Coleman's Still Life with Azaleas in a Chinese Pot at $270,000; Leon Gaspard and John Marshall Gamble at $182,000 each; Maurice Braun at $127,000; Franz Bischoff's Chrysanthemums, reproduced on the back cover, at $105,000; and two William Wendt landscapes at $96,200 and $82,250. Consignments came from the Louise Benton Wagner Trust, the University of Southern California, and the Orange County Museum of Art. Artists represented include Edgar Payne, Guy Rose, Joseph Kleitsch, Alson Clark, Elmer and Marion Kavanagh Wachtel, Anna Hills, Arthur Rider, Frank Cuprien, Hanson Puthuff, Millard Sheets, Sam Hyde Harris, Thomas and Edward Moran, Sydney Laurence, Olaf Wieghorst, Frank Tenney Johnson, Ernest Martin Hennings, Reginald Marsh, Walt Kuhn, Charles Demuth and Max Weber.
