In very good condition. Pictorial paper covers show mild shelf wear, with a slit to spine at head, nicking to foot of spine and to bottom edge of front cover, and light bumping and creasing to edges. Binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked. Two hundred thirty-four lots of American painting and sculpture, sold simultaneously in San Francisco and Los Angeles on 9 December 1992. Standout lot is Thomas Wilmer Dewing's A Musician, signed and dated 1877 and estimated at $60,000 to $80,000, exhibited at the Boston Art Club and the Society of American Artists in 1878, caricatured in Puck that March, noticed in the New York Evening Post, the New York Herald and the Boston Daily Transcript, and offered with an essay by Dr. Susan Hobbs, author of the Dewing catalogue raisonne. Cover lot is a Thomas Moran California landscape signed and dated 1888, one of three Morans in the sale. Also here are a Sanford Robinson Gifford, a Robert Henri portrait, and Hobson Pittman's Clare in the Azalea Garden, carrying labels from the Henry R.
