In Very Good condition with a Good dust jacket. Blue cloth boards with gilt lettering on spine, mild edge wear and a hint of fading along the top edge. Binding tight. Previous owner's bookplate affixed to front pastedown. Mild toning to endpapers, pages otherwise clean and unmarked. Illustrated dust jacket, a painted underwater scene of two divers in blue-green, shows chips and closed tears of 1/2 inch or less, creasing along edges, mild overall toning and soiling, and color loss along edges and down the front spine fold. Now in an archival quality (removable) Brodart cover. The first systematic guide to skin diving, published as the aqualung was opening the sport to the public. Covers equipment and its uses, swimming and diving technique, physiological problems and decompression, spearfishing, underwater photography, salvage, and diving clubs, with a chapter on building your own gear. Appendix A lists equipment by supplier at May 1955 prices from Healthways, Fenjohn, U.S. Divers, Voit, Cressi and Aqua Gun, a record of the trade at the sport's first boom.
