Condition & notes

In Good condition. Bright color pictorial cover with a previous owner's name in ink near the fore-edge and a few small edge nicks and short tears; light shelf wear, aging, and soiling. Interior pages otherwise unmarked.A West Coast sheet from Villa Moret, the San Francisco house billed as "The Voice of the West" and founded in 1924 by composer Charles N. Daniels under his pen name Neil Moret; the firm's success with "Moonlight and Roses" earned it the nickname "the House of Moonlight and Roses." Here Moret and his "Moonlight and Roses" partner Ben Black are joined by Gus Kahn, the lyricist of "It Had to Be You," "Makin' Whoopee," and "Dream a Little Dream of Me," so the sheet is in effect the composer publishing himself alongside one of the era's greatest lyricists. The color Art Deco cover, a caped figure before a blue Spanish courtyard door, is signed WRC, the San Francisco cover artist William Ross Cameron. Back cover carries a "symphonic ukulele arrangement" by Ray Canfield with chord diagrams.
