In Good condition. Cover shows light edge wear and short splits at the head and foot of the spine fold, with a small price sticker to the front. Light pencil performance annotations, fingering and cues, on several of the music pages; text otherwise clean.One of the most famous ballet sequences in the American musical theater. Richard Rodgers wrote it as the finale of the 1936 Rodgers and Hart show On Your Toes, choreographed by George Balanchine with Ray Bolger and Tamara Geva in the leads. It was the first full-scale ballet to carry the plot of a Broadway musical, and Balanchine's insistence on a program credit is why Broadway adopted the word "choreography." Gene Kelly and Vera-Ellen danced it as the show-stopping finale of the 1948 MGM biography Words and Music, which occasioned this abridged piano edition. Back cover advertises excerpts from South Pacific.
