In Good condition. Pictorial cover toned and lightly soiled, with a few small edge nicks. Interior pages mildly toned, music unmarked.Ingrid Bergman's Hollywood debut. Heinz Provost composed the "Intermezzo" theme for the 1936 Swedish film that first made Bergman a star, winning a competition tied to that production; the melody went on to become one of the most popular concert and radio pieces of its day. When David O. Selznick brought Bergman to Hollywood for the 1939 English-language remake opposite Leslie Howard, this vocal setting (English lyric by Robert Henning) carried the tune into American parlors. Originally scored for violin and piano, here arranged for voice and piano. Illustrated title page lists eighteen further arrangements of the work; back cover carries song excerpts from the publisher's "Songs for Everyone" series.
