Condition & notes

In Good condition. Illustrated Art Deco cover in rose, cream, and black, a walled hilltop citadel rising above stylized rolling waves. Previous owners' names in ink and pencil on the front cover. Center leaf (pp. 4-5) has a 1 inch closed tear to the fore-edge. Small nicks and short closed tears to the cover edges with light creasing. Light overall toning and soiling. Interior otherwise unmarked. Inside front cover carries a sample of "When Day Is Done" (De Sylva and Katscher), the rear cover a sample of "A Lane in Spain" (Lewis and Lombardo), and the inside rear cover samples of "Just a Cottage Small" and "Adelai."Words by Ray Klages, music by Al Goering and Jack Pettis. The waltz sets a reverie of drifting away to a tropical paradise. Jack Pettis was the saxophonist of the New Orleans Rhythm Kings, among the most influential of the early jazz bands, and cowrote the enduring standard "Bugle Call Rag." Lyricist Ray Klages is best remembered for "Just You, Just Me" (1929)
