In Very Good condition. Pictorial paper covers, a green duotone photograph of Athol Fugard in the title role to front; light bumping increasing to edges and corners, mild surface and edge wear with some chipping to the head and foot of the spine and some color loss along edges and spine. Binding tight. Pages mildly toned, otherwise unmarked. Single issue of Theater, the journal of the Yale School of Drama and Yale Repertory Theater (Volume XIX, Number 1, Fall/Winter 1987; ISSN 0161-0775), edited by Joel Schechter. Notable as the first appearance in print of Athol Fugard's play "A Place with the Pigs: A Personal Parable" (pages 51 to 69, copyright 1987), published in the issue that documents its world premiere at the Yale Repertory Theater on March 24, 1987, staged and performed by Fugard himself, who appears as Pavel on the cover and throughout, and accompanied by the only interview Fugard gave during the run (with Gabrielle Cody and Joel Schechter). The remainder is a special section on "paratheater," the theatricality of public life, with essays on the Iran-Contra hearings, television evangelism, professional wrestling, New York's Lesbian and Gay Pride Day, and medical simulation, plus reviews from Berlin, New Haven, and Buffalo.
