In Very Good condition with a Good dust jacket. Cream paper wraps with a pale olive-gray dust jacket lettered in white; mild shelf wear. Binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked. Jacket with a half-inch chip and tear to the head of the spine, a few smaller nicks and tears and creasing to the edges, mild shelf wear with light scuffing and soiling, and some color loss along edges and spine. Catalogue for the exhibition "Miquel Barceló: Paintings from 1983 to 1985" at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, February 18 to April 20, 1986, organized by the capc Musée d'art contemporain de Bordeaux and shown first in Bordeaux, among the earliest institutional presentations of the Mallorcan painter in the United States. Miquel Barceló (born Felanitx, Mallorca, 1957) emerged in the early 1980s as a leading figure of the Spanish neo-expressionist revival, working in thickly built, materially dense canvases of still lifes, libraries, seascapes, and studio interiors. With introductions by David Ross and Elisabeth Sussman and essays by Jean-Louis Froment, Francisco Calvo Serraller, and Marga Paz, the 1983 to 1985 plates are interleaved with texts drawn from Barceló's own library (Kleist, Foix, Carpentier, and others), followed by a biography by Sylvie Couderc and an exhibitions bibliography.
