Number one in the Studies in Landscape Architecture, Informal Papers series, issued by the Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection. Drawn from a 1996 exhibition, the text examines the garden ornaments of Dumbarton Oaks and the ways landscape architects Beatrix Farrand and Ruth Havey, together with Mildred Bliss, incorporated them into the design of the garden. Illustrated with archival photographs, design drawings, and period auction material, with appendices recording the garden inscriptions and a plan of the garden.
