In Very Good condition. Illustrated paper covers with light bumping and creasing to edges and mild overall surface wear, a hint of soiling and aging along the edges. Binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked. Original catalogue for the exhibition "Drawing: Technique and Purpose" at the Victoria and Albert Museum, 28 January to 26 April 1981, written by Susan Lambert, Chief Curator of the Department of Prints, Drawings and Paintings at the V&A. Using drawings from the museum and other British collections, Lambert examines drawing under four headings, technique, drawing as a discipline, drawing as imagination, and drawing for utility, covering surfaces, implements and media, presentation and record drawings, and technical illustration. This 1981 V&A issue is the first appearance of the text, later expanded as a Trefoil trade edition and reissued as "Reading Drawings: An Introduction to Looking at Drawings" (Pantheon, 1984).
