In Very Good condition. Illustrated paper covers with mild shelf wear and light bumping to edges and corners. Binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked. Facsimile signatures of Siegward Sprotte and Karl Hagemeister printed at the foot of the title page as issued. Catalogue published for the exhibition "Siegward Sprotte im Dialog mit Karl Hagemeister" at the Museum Havellaendische Malerkolonie, Ferch, 1 May to 18 July 2010, curated by Jelena Jamaikina. The exhibition pairs Siegward Sprotte (1913-2004) with Karl Hagemeister (1848-1933), the Havel-region landscape painter and Berlin Secession member under whom Sprotte studied as a master student. Sprotte went on to international recognition for his reduced landscapes and "colored calligraphy," with work held by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Carnegie Museum of Art. Includes an essay, Sprotte's autobiographical writings, and a biographical chronology of Hagemeister, illustrated with reproductions of paintings and works on paper by both artists.
