Description

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, Published 1973. Softcover, 304 pp.; 28 cm; text in English and French; illustrated with 296 plates, 21 in color. Exhibition catalogue (73/3). In Good+ condition. Cream and gray illustrated paper covers with orange lettering on front and spine. Light bumping and creasing to cover edges and corners. Two half-inch tears, one on the long top edge of the front cover and one at the top of the spine near the rear hinge. Mild shelf wear with toning and a small scuff to the spine. Interior clean and unmarked. Catalogue of a loan exhibition organized by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Centre national d'art contemporain, presented at the Guggenheim, New York, and the Grand Palais, Paris. One of 8,000 copies, designed by Malcolm Grear and printed by The Meriden Gravure Company. Includes the essay "Jean Dubuffet: An Art on the Margins of Culture" by Margit Rowell, Dubuffet's own remarks on the unveiling of "The Group of Four Trees" (translated by Benita Eisler), a full illustrated checklist of works in the exhibition, and a biographical chronology.
