In Very Good condition. Tan illustrated paper covers with light bumping to edges and corners and mild shelf wear, some sticker residue at the bottom of the front cover, and mild toning and soiling to edges and spine. Small "Signed" sticker at top corner of front cover. Binding tight. A soft horizontal crease runs across several inner leaves. Inscribed to a previous owner and signed by the author, Ellen G. Allen, founder of Ikebana International, on the half-title page. Pages mildly toned but otherwise unmarked.A beginner's primer in Japanese flower arrangement, presenting the Moribana and Heika styles through nine step-by-step lessons illustrated with black-and-white photographs and line diagrams, with a foreword by Houn Ohara, headmaster of the Ohara School. Ellen Gordon Allen studied ikebana under Ohara School masters in Japan and in 1956 founded Ikebana International, the worldwide association of ikebana enthusiasts; this copy is inscribed and signed by her.
