Staining to inside front cover and half-title leaf, milder staining to dedication and title pages. Inscribed, personalized, and signed in ink by the author on the title page. Otherwise unmarked.Memoir of summers at the author's family cottage on Cable Lake in Bayfield County, northern Wisconsin, recalling childhood and youth there from the late 1920s through the 1950s among the eccentric Cooper family of Minneapolis. Jim Cooper (James F. Cooper), raised in Minneapolis and later a longtime teacher of English abroad, inherited the Chequamegon-region cottage from his grandmother, Emma White Cooper.
