In Very Good condition, no dust jacket as issued. Maroon moire cloth boards, gilt lettering and Christie's device to front cover and spine, with mild shelf and edge wear and light rubbing to the gilt. Binding tight, ribbon marker present, interior clean and unmarked. Christie's New York deluxe hardbound catalogue for the single-owner sale of the jewelry collection of Florence J. Gould (1895-1983), held April 11, 1984 (sale GOULD-5700). Lots 401 to 487 comprise jewels by Van Cleef and Arpels, Cartier, Bulgari, Alexandre Reza, Harry Winston, Tiffany and Co., Schlumberger, and Mellerio, among them the Victory Diamond (a 31.35-carat D-color stone cut from a rough found in Sierra Leone in 1945) and important emerald, sapphire, ruby, and natural pearl pieces. A biographical essay on Mrs. Gould, the American-born Francophile patron of the arts, opens the catalogue, with an index of makers at the rear. Each lot is fully described with estimates and illustrated in color.
