We meet Odin, Thor, Brynhild, one of the Valkyries, and others. Freyja, commander of the Valkyries, through a divine vision, instructs a group of Norsemen in constructing a giant ship capable of crossing their great sea, which was to become the forerunner of the Viking ship as we know it. This Viking ship was Freyja's gift. This is a charming tale personalizing the Norse gods and their interactions with each other and, when they deign to visit them, their Norsefolk neighbors. It is also a gift to those who are interested in mythology.
