Condition & notes
In very good condition. Cream colored paper covers with printed titles and reproductions of lithographs by Stow Wengenroth. Light bumping and creasing to edges and mild toning and edgewear. Otherwise clean and unmarked. A prospectus issued in March 1968 to announce new work by Stow Wengenroth (1906 - 1978) consisting of a suite of six black and white lithographs. Includes illustrations of each image as follows: "The White Fence," "Redwing," "Windswept," "The Breakwater," "Winter Moon," and "Early Morning," with sizes and original prices noted, together with order form and critical commentary by "A.R." (prob. Albert Reese). Stow Wengenroth (1906 - 1978) was an American artist celebrated as one of the foremost lithographers of the twentieth century. Trained at the Art Students League and Grand Central School of Art, he became known for his finely detailed black-and-white views of New England landscapes, coastal scenes, and wildlife. His works are represented in major public and private collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Library of Congress.
