Documents the exhibition by Fumiki Bando and Elizabeth LeMoine entitled "Courage", which took place from June 6-25, 1995, at 21-23 Park Street, Southwark, London. The exhibition was staged in an unused Georgian house offered by Southwark Council, originally intended to be a Museum of Victorian Servant Life. The book records the artists' creative process, the transformation of the space, and viewer responses. Includes essays, artist statements, and photographic documentation of the works and the venue. [From first page] In London the number of artists, the variety of their practices and the economic conditions that determine not only arts funding but real estate transitions, have combined to generate a culture of 'alternative' possibilities. Artists often make their own opportunities in this environment. This self-published volume records the approach and results of one such enterprise.
