The book features twelve myths from the Mandalbingu tribe of Arnhem Land, as recounted by David Gulpilil, a renowned Aboriginal actor and storyteller. These narratives delve into the unique culture of the Australian Aboriginal people, offering insights into their traditions and beliefs. The compilation is enriched with numerous illustrations, including drawings, paintings, and photographs, which enhance the storytelling experience. The book served as the basis for a children's television series titled "The Dreamtime," filmed on location in the Australian outback, with Gulpilil as the storyteller. [From Introduction] I love dancing and playing digeridoo, but most of all I like to tell people about the unique culture of the Australian Aboriginal. The Dreamtime is very important to the Aboriginal people. It is the basis of our culture and most people don't know much about it.Now, after my many films, I have a chance to teach you a little about my people. I hope you enjoy the stories I tell in this book and in the series of films, THE DREAMTIME, on television.
