I have photographed the California coast from La Jolla to the Oregon border, but I am continually drawn back to the Laguna Beach coastline. When I am in the area, I visit my favorite spots, looking for something magical to happen in the early evening light. It was after an intense storm with heavy surf that I discovered the buried treasure of these formations. The surf had temporarily washed away most of a small stretch of sandy beach that covers these rocks much of the year. That evening at sunset, with a calm low tide, this bit of Topanga formation sandstone meeting the Pacific was that magical "something" waiting to be captured on film.
