The 90 works, arranged chronologically from the 1770s to 1917, are views of country houses and their gardens, interiors, and architects' plans and perspectives, each catalogued with medium, dimensions, inscriptions, provenance and exhibition history. Potts's introduction describes identifying a drawing catalogued as "A Design for a Country House c. 1820-30" as James Wyatt's original perspective for Wycombe Abbey, and discusses Thomas Pennethorne's views of John Nash's own East Cowes Castle and Thomas Hosmer Shepherd's view of the Prince Regent's Carlton House, which stood only from 1783 to 1826. Other artists include William Watts, Moses Griffith, John Nixon, Thomas Shotter Boys, William Walcot, and garden painters Beatrice Parsons and George Samuel Elgood.
