History of Lambesc, the town 20 km northwest of Aix-en-Provence, set within the history of Provence, written and illustrated by P. A. and M. Gazanhes and published by the town's Photo-Art-Culture club. Follows Lambesc from the Celto-Ligurian Salyens and the Roman roads through the counts of Provence, the Porcelets, the Catalan and Angevin counts, Louis XI as seigneur, the Guise fief, and the principality created by Louis XIV for the Lorraine-Brionne line, whose head was styled "Prince de Lambesc" at court. Covers the town's 140 years as seat of the General Assemblies of the Communities of Provence, which earned it the name "Versailles Aixois," and the earthquake of 1909. The final chapters are a walking tour of the old town and its quarters, keyed to a plan of 23 sites including the hotels particuliers, coaching inns, the Jacquemard clock tower, the 1789 public lavoir and the Musee du Vieux Lambesc. Drawings by the authors show fountains, oratories, the lavoir, Salyen sculpture and Massaliote coins. Contents: Avant-propos; I. Les Salyens; II. Le Moyen-Age, Lambesc dans la Provence des rois; III.
