In Very Good condition. Cream and black pictorial card covers with light shelf and edge wear. Staple bound, binding tight. Pages mildly toned. Otherwise unmarked. Recipe booklet of prize winners from the tenth National Chicken Cooking Contest, held June 27 and 28, 1958 at the Eleventh Annual Delmarva Chicken Festival in Denton, Maryland, where 258 contestants from 17 states and two foreign countries competed. First prize went to Mrs. Barbara Marks of Wantagh, New York, for Chicken Tarragon Champignons; other winners include Chicken Paella, Chicken 'n Yummplins, Choptank Chicken Feast and Oriental Oven-Fried Chicken, with junior division winners and a men's barbecue contest judged by James Beard. Also includes promotional text on the Delmarva Peninsula as birthplace of the broiler industry and charts comparing the protein and calories of chicken with other meats. Delmarva Poultry Industry began the contest in 1949; it ran until 2009.
