In Very Good condition, no dust jacket. Red cloth boards with gilt lettering on front and spine, Hispanic Society seal blind-stamped on front. Mild shelf and edge wear to covers, spine faded and toned. Binding tight. Endpapers mildly toned, a hint of foxing to endpapers and title page, faint foxing to edges of text block. Otherwise unmarked. Regional history of Spanish lustre pottery, from tenth-century fragments found at Medina az-Zahra and the Alhambra-type vases of Malaga, through the armorial dishes and vases of Manises and Valencia, to the lustreware of Aragon, Catalonia and Sevilla in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Illustrations draw on the Hispanic Society's collection, largely assembled by Archer M. Huntington between 1904 and 1908, and on pieces in European and American museums, many photographed for the first time. Frothingham (1902-1976), a ceramics specialist on the Society's staff, also wrote Talavera Pottery (1944). With notes, references and index.
