In Very Good condition. Yellow pictorial paper covers, photograph of a plate lettered "Give us this day our daily bread" to front. Light bumping increasing at edges and corners, mild shelf and edge wear, a little light soiling to front cover and some staining near spine. Staple bound, binding tight. Pages mildly toned. Otherwise unmarked. Promotional cookbook from the Chicago dairy compiled by its food consultant, with nearly every recipe calling for Bowman milk, butter, buttermilk, soured cream, whipping cream, cottage cheese or eggs: Basic Bread, Ice Box Rolls, Old-Fashioned Strawberry Shortcake, Rich Devilsfood Cake, Hallowe'en Spice Cake, Bowman Egg Cutlets, Oysters a la Bowman, Bowman Sherry Pudding, Cranberry Snow Salad and Pear Salad with Oregon pears. Household hints at the foot of each page, a Table of Measures, and charts of birthstones and flowers and wedding anniversaries. Rear cover with index, a closing verse and a note to readers above her printed signature. Bowman, founded in 1874, was the largest milk distributor in Chicago through the first half of the 20th century.
