In Very Good condition with a Good dust jacket. Light blue cloth boards, cardinal lettering and decoration on spine, with mild shelf and edge wear and a hint of toning along edges. Binding tight. Top edge stained light blue. Light foxing to edges of text block. Pages mildly toned, otherwise unmarked. Department store price label on rear endpaper. Illustrated pink dust jacket with portrait of Tucker signed Jay, a few small nicks and tears, light creasing along edges, mild overall shelf wear with toning, scuffing and foxing, heavier on spine. Now in an archival quality (removable) Brodart cover. Written in collaboration with Dorothy Giles and dedicated to songwriter Jack Yellen. Covers the years from a Hartford restaurant kitchen through Tin Pan Alley, blackface and the burlesque wheel, the Ziegfeld Follies, Reisenweber's, the Palace, wartime Britain, the American Federation of Actors dispute, and Hollywood. Endpapers reproduce a career photo montage including a sister act with Judy Garland, Irving Berlin, Jimmy Walker, Walter Huston, Raymond Massey and the Earl Carroll Vanities. Rear jacket panel carries tributes from Fanny Brice, Eddie Cantor, Bea Lillie and Walter Winchell. No publisher is named on the title page, jacket or spine, and the copyright stands in Tucker's own name.
