In Very Good condition. Covers with mild rubbing at corners and spine ends. Staple bound, staples sound. Dealer's pencil price and code at foot of title page; publisher's blue "Da Capo al Fine" stamp at p. 13. Music clean and unmarked. Two three-movement sonatinas for solo piano, each timed at five minutes: Sonatine auf e (first movement Rasch fliessend; Notturno, in 5/8 and 6/8; Rondo, Vivace) and Sonatine auf g (Allegro con brio; Epigramm, Andantino; Allegretto with three variations, Presto, Allegretto, and Molto allegro). Intermediate teaching pieces in a mildly dissonant tonal idiom, with German expression marks ("Linke Hand stark heraus," "scharfes staccato," "Tempo anziehen"). Heilbut (1920-2005), a survivor of Sachsenhausen, studied in Hamburg after 1945 and taught piano at the Staatliche Jugendmusikschule Hamburg from 1952 and as professor of music pedagogy at the Hamburg Hochschule fur Musik from 1975 to 1990; he was co-founder of the German section of EPTA and originator of the "Spiel zu zweit" group-piano method and the Schimmel Partnerklavier.
