Condition & notes
In Very Good condition with a Very Good dust jacket. Pictorial paper-covered boards matching the jacket, green spine panel with white lettering; a ding with small chips to the paper at foot of spine where it meets front board, mild shelf wear. Binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked. Pictorial dust jacket (a lidded black porcelain urn painted with a snowy egret, green title panel on front, the same urn from the reverse on rear) with a 1/2" tear at lower front edge near spine, a few small nicks and light creasing at edges, mild shelf wear. Now in an archival quality (removable) Brodart cover. Monograph of the porcelain painter's own work, self-published as the first volume of a planned collection (no second volume appeared). Pereira (b. 1961), raised on Madeira and trained in Brazil, the United States, Canada, Colombia, and Venezuela, founded the International Center of Painting on Porcelain in Venezuela in 1989 and has taught seminars in more than fifty countries; the front matter lists his distributors in Portugal, Venezuela, France, Italy, Germany, Lebanon, and Switzerland. Pieces are grouped as classical, portraits, birds and animals, landscapes, roses, flowers, table sets, and modern, with a two-page dedication to his parents and a closing tribute to the Cuban-born painter Ivonne G. Planos of the Mexican Federation of Painters on Porcelain, illustrated with two pieces from his own collection.
