In Very Good condition, no dust jacket. Glossy black illustrated paper over boards, front board with a color reproduction of a 1914 Schiele figure study within a black border. Some nicks to the paper at corner tips, mild shelf and edge wear, moderate rubbing to rear board with faint color loss. Binding tight. Previous owner's name and address stamped on front free endpaper. Otherwise pages clean and unmarked. Introductory essay by Erwin Mitsch, longtime curator at the Albertina in Vienna, who organized the museum's 1968 Schiele exhibition and wrote the Phaidon monograph The Art of Egon Schiele (1975). The plates are drawn largely from the Albertina, one of the world's most important collections of Schiele's works on paper, and span 1908 to 1918: self-portraits, portraits of Arthur Roessler, Max Oppenheimer, Eduard Kosmak and the artist's mother, nude studies, landscapes and still lifes, and the 1918 chalk study for The Family. With a short biography and a catalogue of the illustrations giving date, medium, dimensions and collection for each plate.
