In Very Good condition. Red paper covers, gold and black lettering on front cover, mild shelf and edge wear. Sticker residue on front cover about an inch below top edge, small scuff toward foot of front cover. Binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked. Exhibition of twenty-six works ran 28 June to 26 July 1997 at Thomas Nygard Gallery, Bozeman. Sitters are Blackfeet, Blood, Piegan, Cree and Paiute. Reiss (Karlsruhe 1886 to 1953) trained under Franz von Stuck in Munich, emigrated in 1913, and first worked among the Blackfeet in the winter of 1919 to 1920; the tribe named him Beaver Child and his ashes were later scattered on the reservation. Great Northern Railway reproduced his portraits on its Empire Builder calendars for three decades. Profile essay by John Heminway, the Bozeman documentary filmmaker and author.
