Condition & notes

In Very Good condition with a Very Good dust jacket. Glossy black paper over boards, white lettering on front cover and spine, mild shelf and edge wear. Binding tight. Pages clean and unmarked. Pictorial dust jacket reproduces Frederic Remington's The Trooper against a pale sky, black rear panel with Sotheby's device at foot; light bumping to edges, mild shelf and surface wear, some scratching to rear panel. Now in an archival quality (removable) Brodart cover. Sale 7135, volume 2, comprising the complete Eulich holding, lots 45 to 88. Introduction by Peter H. Hassrick, former Director of the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. Dallas commercial property developer John F. Eulich began collecting in 1978 and toured the holding to thirteen American museums between September 1991 and January 1995 as The American West: Legendary Artists of the Frontier. Sale brought over $25 million and set auction records for twenty-six artists at the time. Cover reproduces Remington's The Trooper, lot 52, recorded in the Hassrick catalogue raisonne with its Eulich provenance. Each lot carries a full entry with pre-sale estimate, provenance, exhibition and literature history.
