In Very Good condition with a Very Good dust jacket. Brown paper over boards with black cloth spine, gilt lettering and gilt publisher's device at foot. Mild shelf and edge wear. Binding tight, pages clean and unmarked. Pictorial dust jacket, not price-clipped, with a few small nicks and light creasing along edges and mild shelf wear. Now in an archival quality (removable) Brodart cover. Greene bought an eighteenth-century presbytery in northern Burgundy and found he had moved into one of the most densely populated wild boar regions in Europe. Part natural history, part travel memoir, following the animal through evolution, hunting practice, myth and art, from Velazquez and Frans Snyders to Pietro Tacca's Porcellino in Florence, with excursions to Sardinia, Corsica, Tuscany and the American South.
