In very good condition. Glossy black illustrated covers carry a map of Italy filled with the artist's village scenes. Mild shelf wear to edges and corners. Binding tight. Pages clean. Otherwise unmarked. Bardi (b. Florence, 1966) was a maresciallo in the Carabinieri before he was a painter. He enlisted at nineteen, served an international deployment to Bosnia in 2002, and took up painting during the long convalescence after the illness and head surgery that ended his career in the Arma. In 2004, still serving, the Comando Generale chose him to draw the Carabinieri's official Christmas cards, a commission that had gone before him to Hugo Pratt, Milo Manara and Giorgio Forattini; in 2007 Lindt Italia put his work on its Natale d'autore Lindor tins. The plates here are acrylic on panel painted between 2006 and 2008, cartoon-drawn Italian village scenes, each captioned with title, year and dimensions and faced by the artist's own text in Italian with English translation. The carabinieri stayed with him: one or more appear in most of the plates, in uniform among the ordinary villagers.
