In Very Good condition. Stiff card stock covers, Nason watercolor of Orchard House on front, fastened along top edge with original cloth tape as issued, light shelf wear, a rectangular patch of adhesive residue at upper right of front cover. All six plates present and uncut, dolls, costumes and accessories intact. Otherwise unmarked. Five uncut dolls, Meg, Jo, Beth, Amy and Laurie, with six outfits and full watercolor background scenes. Marmee and Mr. March appear as framed oval portraits rather than dolls, Father away as an army chaplain. Cover shows Orchard House in Concord, Massachusetts, the Alcott home where Little Women was written. Nason paints the settings a reader wants: the March parlor with its rag rug and staircase, Jo's attic desk and shelf of books, Beth's piano and the six dolls on her sofa, Amy's easel and paintbox at the lake, and on Meg's page the Dovecote, the Twins, and the jelly table from her famous domestic disaster. Hand-lettered narrative runs across every plate. Issued in the Evergreen Press Collector's Art Series, which used exhibiting fine artists rather than commercial illustrators.
