Condition & notes

In Very Good condition. Some soiling to the front cover and light overall toning. Interior clean and unmarked.David Raksin's theme for the 1944 film noir Laura (Otto Preminger, Gene Tierney). Johnny Mercer's lyric followed in 1945, and the song became a jazz standard, reportedly the second most-recorded in history after "Stardust." This is the wordless piano composition credited to Raksin alone, issued in Robbins's "Modern American Music for Piano" series and distinct from the common vocal edition with its Gene Tierney and bandleader cover photographs; this cover carries no portrait. Interior and back-cover advertisements list Robbins's other modern piano solos, among them Peter De Rose, Duke Ellington, and Bix Beiderbecke.
