In Very Good condition. Glossy pictorial wraps, front cover reproducing Manship's gilded bronze Flight of Night; mild shelf and edge wear, binding tight. Light foxing to the fore-edges of the text block with a few faint spots to the contents leaf, and a faint mark to the pale rear cover. Otherwise unmarked.Catalogue of the centennial retrospective mounted by the Minnesota Museum of Art (19 May to 18 August 1985) and afterward toured nationally through 1987. Paul Manship (1885-1966), born in Saint Paul, was the foremost American sculptor of the archaistic and Art Deco manner, best known for the gilded bronze Prometheus (1934) at Rockefeller Center. Long eclipsed by mid-century modernism, his reputation was recovering at the time of this show, which the Museum tied to a nationwide revival of interest, the restoration of several of his public monuments, and the centennial of his birth. It draws on the Museum's own holdings, the largest single body of Manship's work, given by the artist in 1966, together with loans from the Smithsonian and private collections.Contents: Preface (M.J.
